sir,
Enclosure 3.
H. M. Dockyard,
Hongkong, 14th July, 1922.
54
With reference to your letter dated the 29th
ultimo, Fo.1 in 5197/1911, relative to exchange of land at
the Navel Armament Depot, I am directed by the Commodore to
inform you that he has lately received a further communicat-
ion from the Admiral ty, stating their Lordships' observations
on the subject, and enclosing, inter alia, a copy of
correspondence with the Colonial Office.
2.
A copy of Admiralty letter dated the 27th
May 1922 to the Under Secretary of State and of plan No.
47814 accompanying the same is enclosed herewith, from
which it will be seen that the boundary of the land proposed
to be transferred to the Admiralty is indicated some 14 to
15 feet to the Eastward of the line shown on the amended
plan forwarded with your letter under reply. This is referred to in paragraphs 3 and 4 of the Admiralty letter.
3.
It is further pointed out that the buildings which are to be reprovided by the Colonial Government will not necessarily be erected on the area coloured blue. As it may not be desirable to reconstruct the same type of buildings provision requires to be made for the reconstruct- ion of accommodation of similar value.
4.
The Admiralty minute referred to in paragraph
2 also states that in the draft Memo. of Exchange no provision is made that in the event of the area coloured blue (on the plan illustrating the draft) reverting to the Colonial Government the Admiralty are to have the right to
The Honourable
The Colonial Secretary,
Hongkong.
